While traveling to Petoskey, MI to visit for an extended weekend. I had the opportunity to appear on a podcast hosted by one of my favorite people, Solomon Harvey. One of the things that I've always admired about Solomon is his genuine desire to get to know and to understand a person as an individual. He deeply embraces the human experience and is fascinated by each individuals journey in their life. This, to me, is an incredibly rare personality trait, and something I don't dismiss lightly.
During my visit, Solomon told me he had started his own podcast where he has set out to explore the human experience while learning about other peoples life journeys. This news is exciting to me because coincides so perfectly with who Solomon is as a human being. I knew immediately that it was a perfect fit for him and I know it will be an impactful show.
When he asked me if I was interested in being interviewed, I felt honored and a bit freaked out (classic introvert). Having said that, it was a wonderful discussion that explores my life experience as a software developer.
This was a freeform and casual discussion where we discussed my journey, my struggles and my accomplishments as a software developer. While I don't always enjoy talking about myself, it is nice to pay respects to my humble roots and to appreciate the value of the hard work I've put in to make it to where I am today.
Along the way, we discuss the somewhat unorthodox path I took to becoming a professional software developer. During this discussion, we also discuss the importance of subjecting ourselves to uncomfortable situations to force ourselves to grow and to rise to the occassion.
While I don't find anything particularly special about me or my personal journey, I do believe there's something to learn from and appreciate about everyone's path in life.
